Cycling lessons for adults
(13/03/2009)
Have you never learnt to ride a bike? Do you want to learn now? In that case, we can help you!
Following the success of the classes held in June 2008, the City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with the LVI (Lëtzebuerger Vëlos-Initiativ), is again organising cycling lessons for adults in April 2009.
Cycling is increasingly popular – active mobility on two wheels is the flavour of the month. But it is clear that being able to ride a bike does not always come easily. Many of our fellow-citizens – young and less young alike – find themselves excluded from this activity.
Either because they have never had the opportunity to learn to ride a bike, or because they feel unsafe on two wheels, or because they think themselves incapable of taking their place in bicycle traffic for some reason or other.
For many, getting started on a bicycle is synonymous with bad experiences, fear and insecurity. We approach the bicycle in an atmosphere that is designed to inspire confidence, where your fears are taken seriously and we provide bicycles for the lessons.
You learn to ride in a quiet place, at your own rhythm, in a small group. The course consists of 10 learning units of two hours each. The course is given by moveo·ergo·sum qualified instructors. This method was developed by Christian Burmeister, the pioneer in cycling lessons for adults in Germany. The teaching is based on psychology, learning methods and sports science.
Courses are held in German, French and Luxemburgish. Courses in English can be run by request. Classes are held in Luxembourg City, in the open air, in a safe space.
